Some of the outside the box book writing tips we will look at include how to organize your non-fiction book,
developing characters, how to write dialogue, writing an autobiography, writing a screenplay, writing a query letter, how to self-publish, and more. On this website, we have looked at basic concepts for outside the box writing. Some of these ideas include creating picture words or using your five senses to produce descriptive writing, doing research to teach your audience or becoming a learner to be a teacher, and seeing the total picture.
AUDIENCE INVOLVEMENT
Outside the box writing works whether you are writing a fiction or non-fiction book.Your intent is to produce a piece of work that creates audience involvement and is seen from all angles.

In practical terms, this means your fictional work will have a setting, a plot, and characters that you are familiar with. You have researched all aspects and can answer the “what if” questions. This does not mean that change cannot occur throughout the novel, only that you have been there (in your novel’s plot) and have smelled the air, touched the surroundings, heard the background noises, and experienced (through empathetic visualization or actual life experience) what your characters are undergoing. The pages of your book will reflect this clarity.
Your character, for example, has good characteristics, but also annoying traits. You see his or her total personality. The same goes for the plot or conflict. You know it well through research or life experience. There are several possible resolutions to the conflict. The protagonist faces several trials until he or she reaches a final conflict resolution.
NON-FICTION WRITING
The same applies for creative non-fiction. Your topic is thoroughly researched and can also be written using your five senses or descriptively, but is also newsworthy. Otherwise, you won’t have a topic of current interest for your press release or media contacts. Once you have chosen a unique topic or a familiar topic with a new angle, your goal is to see the topic from all aspects.
Ask yourself the questions your audience might ask. You may want to find preliminary readers who will ask the relevant questions to push the topic along.
COHESIVE WHOLE
The final step is to make all the pieces come together. There has to be a common thread between themes and subthemes. All theories work together to create a cohesive whole. In fiction, all aspects of the story including plot, characterization, and setting are integrated in a final climax.
