Outside the Box
Writing Tips

EditingOffice.com, your portal for outside the box writing tips, is here to help you on your journey to think outside the box.

If knowledge is food for the soul, as Plato suggested, then the pursuit of obtaining and relaying information through research and writing is an integral part of the human experience.

“We’ve progressed from a society of farmers to a society of factory workers to a society of knowledge workers. And now we’re progressing yet again—to a society of creators and empathizers, pattern recognizers, and meaning makers,” explains author Daniel Pink.

NEW WRITING PROCESS

On our journey to becoming a society of creators and meaning makers, the writing process we use changes. The norm no longer appeals to a wide audience. We are now looking from the top down through a more global perspective. Now writers and readers seek communication that expresses uniqueness and creativity.

Daniel Pink explains in his book, A Whole New Mind: Why Right Brainers Will Rule the Future, that a shift is currently under way. We are expanding our empathetic large-picture vision recognizing pat-terns and meaning. And each new idea creates an ever-farther horizon in our search for information.

THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX

When we venture outside the box, we encompass a holistic worldview. No longer do we see only from our own viewpoint, but from several perspectives.
